February Special activities for school groups, Wednesdays and Fridays during African-American History Month. Groups will be able to register for two activities that focus on African-American History as part of their visit to the site. Some activities have a $0.50 per student activity fee. Reservations must be made at least 3 weeks in advance. No groups larger than 60 visitors. May 6 Mother’s Day High Tea. Invite your mother to a 19th century high tea. Tea etiquette will be discussed by costumed hostesses while visitors partake of traditional refreshments. Nineteenth century costume is optional. 2 - 4 PM. Please R.S.V.P. by April 29. Admission is $10.00 per mother/daughter pair. June 23 Juneteenth Celebration. Juneteenth is a celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. Join us this year for our first-annual Juneteenth celebration sponsored by the Historic Stagville Foundation. This family-focused event will have a jubilant atmosphere, with music, entertainment, period craft vendors and food. To commemorate the history of the site, costumed actors will portray actual members of the enslaved community at Stagville. There will also be a station with information about the enslaved community and the genealogy project being conducted at the site. For more information on the genealogy, click here.
